Hi, I’m Laura.
I’m here because I love coaching, and I am incredibly passionate about providing people with a safe space to grow. Coaching has been such an important part of my own self-development, and I want to share the power of coaching with you - if you’ll let me!
I haven’t always been a coach - I started my journey as a doctor, and spent the first 30 years of my life working towards this goal. It wasn’t easy by any means; I have had to overcome the challenges of burnout, anxiety and chronic pain. Over time these physical and mental health difficulties accumulated to the point that I was no longer functioning in my daily life. This led to me stepping away from my role as a GP for a period of time to focus on looking after myself and my own healing. I realised that being a doctor had become such a core part of my identity that I had prioritised being a doctor over actually listening to my body, looking after myself and doing things that replenished my soul.
During this time I found coaching and honestly it felt like something just clicked. My first experience of coaching opened my eyes to the power of recognizing your own strengths. My coach reflected back qualities I had overlooked in myself and made me feel truly seen and heard. This ignited my passion for coaching, and I realised its potential to transform lives.
Over the last few years I have spent a lot of time working out who I am, what my core values are and what is important in my life. (If you’re interested, my core values are: Connection, Courage, Empathy, Authenticity, Efficiency and Justice!). Having this strong understanding of myself has allowed me to show up more authentically in my own life, surrounding myself with people who make me feel safe, and making choices that align with my values.
As a coach I thrive on building trusting relationships with my clients over time and I appreciate the courage it takes to be honest and vulnerable in these sessions. I’m fully committed to creating a safe and supportive environment so that you can come as your true self to explore your thoughts and feelings openly. My approach involves a blend of person-centred techniques and solution-focused strategies, tailored to your unique needs and informed by positive psychology, cognitive behavioural techniques, and values-based work. I aim to empower my clients to recognise their strengths, to navigate any challenges and come up with actionable strategies for change. I find it incredibly rewarding to witness clients embrace their potential and implement meaningful change in their lives.
If this all sounds good to you, I would love for us to work together!
FUN FACT
I am half English and half Filipino. The flower in my logo is a Sampaguita flower - the national flower of the Philippines. It was also my Lola’s (grandmother) favourite flower. She moved to England from the Philippines on her own, leaving her husband and three young children at home in order to build a better life for them before she could be reunited with them all again. Her courage and strength has always been an inspiration for me, and I’m happy to honour her memory in this small way. You may also notice the flower is growing and transforming as it becomes open!
